Now its here! Depeche modes long waited 12th studio album.
Background:
Since the begging, Depeche mode has told that this is the album, that takes DM "step backwards". In this time, that backstep means that DM is going to use more synthesizer like in the past less guitar and drums. Check those "in the studio clips" from Depechemode.com, Martin Gore has dozens of those old instruments.
And what a massive name the album haves; Sounds of the universe, bit like Music for the masses from the 80's. obviosly Depeche Mode has outgrowed world.
First listen:
This is the weak spot of Depeche mode, as long as the music is playing on background, you propably will feel like its only distubing you - i had this feeling on last 11 albums - and becuse of that, many people may drop DM out. Lucky you, there is a way to fi this; Earphones! just leave everything else behind for an hour, and listen the music.
Once you have the 'phones on, you notice that "step backwards" isnt dramatic as you may expect, Just opposite - there is old-fashioned syntehesizer used to make mordern music!
After last track:
Dave Gahan had strong act thorughout the whole record! Dave just gets better and better, forget Chris Cornell or David Cook, this is what you want! Dave had lot time, which was taken from Martin's and Andrew Fletcher's output, thats pitty and the only fault on album! Just more instumental sections, long intros and this would be 10/10!
Compared to previos Albums, Depeche mode had taken a step to more rocky, vocal based sound, taking SOTU closer to Dave's solo album, Hourglass that previos Depeche mode album . Playing the angel. The whole album was solid package (just like Hourglass again), seemingly, there were no 'weak songs' or songs that i didnt quiet get, you can listen the album without feeling that "i wanna skip this track", Greeeat!
i did leave CD player with smile on my face, Depeche mode is going strong, specially songs Wrong, In chanes, In symphaty and Come back were really jackpots! More radio place, pls!

About me
Hello from Finland!First things first - im NOT the typical Finn you might think... Yes, im quiet and im not used to be the center of attention, but otherwise completly opposite. I dont follow my neighbor and then do things they do, only to fit in. I do things becuse i feel like it, for instance, when there comes the time i need to buy something... Lets say a jacket: first and propably the only thing i watch from that jacket is what it looks like - i dont care does it have pocket to carry my cellphone, or will it keep water outside and heat inside (thats why im freezing, but atleast i feel like im looking good - shallow? maybe, or then im just sure what i want)
Music drives me here. Im huge Depeche Mode fan, the earliest memories are from the Enjoy the silence -video which i somehow remember from my youth, then there was really long period when my musical taste was wondering, untill i again find Depeche mode at the edge of release of the Playing the Angel, ever since that its devotee nonstop.
Over all my music taste is squuezed really well into one sentence by the ex-radiohost called Matleena on youth directed radiostaion YleX, she called my music taste "Melancholic British synthpop". Best one so far!
But its more than that (see the list of albums i own). techno, indie pop, pop, rock in pritty much every form except Glamm or hairmetal, sometimes i find my self listening rap songs o.O, Rn'b sometimes... you get the point ;)
Other thing that is part of my 'soul' is cars. Beides beeing my work, cars are more than a way to get from A to B, i enjoy taking my Alfa Romeo on a spin at B-road. the whole history of motoring is intriguing, its not just putting bits and bolts together.
Thats all for now on. i'll fill this up if i find there is anything else worth of mentioning
Occupation: Car mechanic
SingleAbout my collections
For music, check the lists, 50+ movie collections, but thats a bit "work in progress", so i'll leave it alone.Lately (finaly) i have find some intrest on reading - not novels tough, last book was Sylvain Margaine's "Forbidden Places" which lacked text - replaced by some great photographes. before that i managed Maurizio Tabucchis Alfa Romeo 1910-2010. so its quiet obvious im more into history and non-fiction
